A Story About A Murderous Batman by James Tynion IV is Going to Happen!

Last year, Scott Snyder and his close friend, James Tynion IV, gave us amazing one-shot story origins of the different Batmen from the Dark Multiverse. The stories were fresh, intriguing, and kept fans like us at the edge of our seats. DC Dark Nights Metal had a mix reaction from fans but as regards the one-shot stories, there was a public clamor for an encore. Hence, DC Comics decided to give Scott Snyder the go signal to write a six-issue series for our new favorite villain, The Batman Who Laughs.

In a recent interview by JJ Travers of adventuresinpoortaste.com, Scott Snyder gave us a little tease on what to expect from his upcoming mini-series.

"AiPT!: James Tynion’s The Batman Who Laughs was one of the best one-shots, and one of the darkest DC Comics I’ve read in years and I loved it. I’ve re-read it like ten times.

Snyder: Oh yeah. By the way, I’ll tell you a spoiler—James is actually going to be doing a one-shot for the Grim Knight, the same way he did for this. So you’ll get his origin on his world as well."

Jock, who’s art will be featured in the covers for Snyder’s mini-series, has been dropping clues about the Grim Knight underneath our nose. He’s been posting concept designs of the character without us knowing what it truly is.

Tynion’s one-shot will focus on a Bruce Wayne and his downward slope in becoming Gotham’s murderous vigilante. Witnessing his parent’s death, Bruce Wayne picked up Joe Chill’s gun and used it against the latter, breaking this only rule that Batman follows—no killing.

Snyder further described The Grim Knight, to wit:

“The greatest challenge that he will face in a Dark Knight is the Grim Knight, the Punisher Batman. Just to be clear, he’s not a character that we’re trying to celebrate with his violence and lethality and all of that stuff. He is Bruce’s nightmare because he is essentially Bruce having gone down that slope, to absolute illogical or logical extension.”

With great things to expect from Snyder’s mini-series, are you all excited about the debut of The Grim Knight? What are your expectations for the character? Let us know in the comment section below!
