Batbook of the Week - Batman #39
Holy Plot Twist, Batman!
*SPOILER HEAVY TALK*
Jim Gordon is having a conversation with Barbara regarding the latest Gotham Knights game when the Bat Signal suddenly flashes. He’s about to get pissed at whoever turned it on but, Wonder Woman activated the signal. She came to talk to Batman about a request someone made to them. A character called the Gentle Man asked to have Bruce & Diana replace him when he wants to return to the real world, in order to take break. The Gentle Man is stuck in an alternate dimension fighting demons, you see.
While Bruce & Diana switch places with The Gentle Man, Selina is in charge of entertaining this guest. She and The Gentle Man even end up eating at a Bat Burger. She and the man have a short conversation about marriage and faithfulness. After that, he says that he needs to make a call to his wife...in the regular universe. The problem is that there’s a time difference. Several hours in the real world is equivalent to about ten years in the other. This begins to get Selina worried about Bruce. Sure, the fighters don’t age in the other world.
All of this is happening, as Bruce and Diana are busy defeating monsters. What Selina doesn’t know is that Diana has been teasing, and eventually flirting, with Bruce in the alternate dimension. Several years pass in the alternate dimension and tensions get higher, as another wave of demons approach.
Here’s the part I was sort of expecting to happen: Part 3 of Superfriends ends with Bruce and Diana about to kiss. The question now is, will they or won’t they? Perfect timing for the next issue to come around Valentine’s season.
Joelle Jones & Jordie Bellaire are doing more outstanding work.. The start with the Batboys was a bit rough but, it’s gotten to the point where I want to keep Joelle Jones & Jordie Bellaire as artists for the rest of Tom King’s run. The whole concept of Bruce and Diana possible doing snu snu is a bit out of left field but, this is Bruce Wayne we’re talking about. He is a Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist
Closing Thoughts:
Fans of WonderBat, you don’t want to miss this!
What else is there to say? DAAAAAYYYYUUUUM. Bruce better be careful not to go back to his playboy ways. Heck, how would Steve Trevor react to this? How would Selina react?
Seeing Batburger again was nice. :) After its debut in part 1 of I Am Bane, you know it had to appear again. Oh! And Bruce looked very ridiculous in his Bat Armor It was practical, though.
