Countdown to Justice League: 7 Comicbooks to Invest On
We're a week away from Justice League and each day gets longer to pass by. I think I speak in behalf of every DC fans when I say that I wish the movie would come a little sooner. But for the meantime, here are SEVEN comicbooks which I think are worth investing on.
7. Justice League #1 second print (New 52)
raw copy $12 - $25 FAIR MARKET VALUE (FMV, for brevity)
slabbed comicbook $100 FMV
Many would ask why I would recommend this book as an investment over many other key issues for Justice League. For one, its the only Justice League team where Cyborg is made a founding member. Reports indicate that Cyborg's role in the movie is pretty significant hence this book might be as important as all the other Justice League books.
What I think this is a better feature of this book is its cover art. From all the printings, the second print is the only cover which features the League in a museum pose. Despite it being a second print, its print run is around 46,000 as compared to the first print which has more or less 200,000 as reported in chomicron.com.
6. DC Comics Presents #26
(First appearance of Cyborg)
raw copy $80 - $180 FMV
slabbed comicbook $250 FMV
Speaking of Cyborg and the importance of his role in the movie, his character might have the biggest role there is. The focus of the movie revolves around the three mother boxes that were lost when Apokolips first invaded Earth. Cyborg IS a mother box. Rey Fisher's charisma and his connection with the fans also adds to the value of this comicbook. In my opinion, get a copy of this book now before value pumps high.
5. New Gods #7
(First appearance of Steppenwolf)
raw copy $50 - $150 FMV
slabbed comicbook $250 FMV
While Steppenwolf's character is a stepping stone to Darkseid's debut in the DC Cinematic Universe, his character is still relevant. It must be noted that his comicbook counterpart has been killed and revived a lot of times already. The DC Cinematic Universe can use that narrative to bring back Stepenwolf anytime that they want. His character might serve as a convenience for them to develop the story further.
4. Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134
(First appearance of Darkseid)
raw copy $200 - $300 FMV
slabbed comicbook $230 - $400 FMV
We all know he's coming. Price for this book is already high. Value will skyrocket once he makes his debut. If you can, grab a copy now before its too late.
3. Justice League of America #1
(Justice League of America gets their own book;
First appearance of Despero)
raw copy $400 - $700 FMV
slabbed comicbook $4,000 - $5,000 FMV
Early books from the silver age is still scarce and high. Its rare to see these books in buy-and-sell sites and not a lot of owners want to sell their copy. For one good reason, popularity of comicbook superheroes is in an all time high. Not everyone can purchase this book, but if you can, its a really good investment. Plus, its the very first title for the prestigious superhero team in comicbook history.
2. Justice League of America #9
(Origin of the Justice League of America)
raw copy $80 - $300 FMV
slabbed comicbook $800 - $1,200
While this book is not the first appearance of the Justice League, it is equally as important as Brave and the Bold #28. In this book, we see the origin of the Justice League and how it was formed by Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Aquaman. The movie is also an origin movie--more specifically, how the team was formed. This book might be relevant and also be the hottest book for this year.
1. The Brave and the Bold #28
(First appearance of the Justice League of America)
raw copy $500 - $1,000 (low grade) FMV
slabbed comicbook $4,000 - $15,000
First appearance. First appearance. First appearance. Thats all you need to know about the importance of this book. The DC Cinematic Universe will stay for a long time, expect this book to climb up even further. If you can get a copy of this book now, don't hesitate, just get it.
Justice League comes to theaters on November 16, 2017. Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
