Weekly round-up: Rumors, Offers, and Acceptance

Due to the numerous rumors we've been getting this week, we thought that it is important to address these issues and report to you guys what's really happening with the DC Cinematic Universe.

BEN AFFLECK PLANS TO LEAVE THE BATMAN!?

A lot of rumors have been spreading that Ben Affleck plans to walk out of the role of Batman for the solo movies. The Dark Knight Ph, through J.J. Lizewski, found out that the rumors started from an episode of Collider where the speaker wanted to conduct an exercise.

Without citing any sources, he said that his statement regarding Ben wanting out of the Batman solo movies should be "taken with a grain of salt, don't run with it." After a few hours, geek sites such as comicbook.com, gamezone.com, and movieweb.com, just to name a few, ran with that story and claims that the source came from a person close to Ben.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Con'on, guys! What ever happened to the good ol' days where geek sites actually report ACTUAL news? Most of the articles we've been getting are based from rumors and speculation without any concrete evidence to back it up! Have these sites succumbed to money and page views?

For credible sources, always check for batman-news.com or variety.com. Yeah, funny how Bleeding Cool is more reliable nowadays compared to Comic Book Resources.

MEL GIBSON IS IN TALKS WITH WARNER BROS. TO DIRECT THE SEQUEL TO SUICIDE SQUAD.

Deadline, Hollywood Reporter, and Variety reported that Warner Bros. approached Hacksaw Ridge director, Mel Gibson to direct Suicide Squad 2.

THR said that no offer has yet been made nor has any commitment has been signed,

but Mel has already been familiarizing himself with Suicide Squad materials.

On the other hand, Deadline has doubts with Mel Gibson accepting director duties for Suicide Squad 2. According to them, Gibson is being pursued by other studios such as Paramount Pictures to star in the sequel of Daddy's Home.

None the less, Warner Bros. has been looking for a new director for the Suicide Squad franchise. According to Variety's sources, in addition to Gibson, the studio has plans to meet with Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) and Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies).

Also, take this with a grain of salt! Warner Bros. hasn't made any comments regarding Gibson's involvement with Suicide Squad. Plus, the pairing is a bit odd. Fans haven't forgotten Gibson's comments about Suicide Squad. Yeah, he said it was sh*t.

WARNER BROS. HAS OFFERED MATT REEVES THE JOB TO DIRECT THE BATMAN

Earlier this month, it was reported that the first draft for The Batman script was turned in. Warner Bros. and Ben Affleck were reported to be very happy with it. However, Ben's departure as a director for the movie has left a void that needed to be filled in quickly.

Matt Reeves, who directed Dawn of the planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes, and Cloverfield, was reported to be the front runner to replace Ben as the director.

Reports from Variety are coming in that Reeves has already accepted directing duties for The Batman and that they are just waiting for the signed paperwork.
